With the vision for humans and wildlife to coexist with resilience on one earth, Conserv Earth strives to protect the earth and wildlife we have while simultaneously working with humans to enrich their lives through the protection of biodiversity.
With a vision that is so extensive and so great, it could be seen as difficult to know where to begin. However, we must start somewhere, and we’ve decided to start with someone: someone who will have a greater impact on the lives around him – through his passion and will to continue learning about the importance of our natural world.
Conserv Earth is sponsoring SANParks employee Amos Gazide through a one-year accredited Natural Resource Management Certificate Programme at the Southern African Wildlife College (SAWC). Amos is based in the Kruger National Park (KNP) and is stationed at Mopani Rest Camp as a Head Guide. He has 20 years of experience in guiding as he started his career in KNP in 2001. Amos believes that “knowledge is power” and that this course will bridge onto further studies of a three-year diploma in Responsible Resource Management soon to be offered by the SAWC. It is his dream to be a section ranger and play a larger role in conservation.
Students that complete the Natural Resource Management Certificate Programme through SAWC can have a positive impact on biodiversity, wildlife crime and natural resources on which local people’s livelihoods and well-beings depend. Upon completing this course, Amos will return to SANParks better equipped and with new applied skills to impact the conservation of Kruger National Park.
We had the privilege of meeting Amos in person recently. Dedicated to his studies, we weren’t able to chat to him for very long. He was, however, extremely grateful to Conserv Earth for assisting him take the next step towards reaching his lifelong dream of becoming a section ranger.
