Mkuze Environmental Camp – Stats and happy students

After our initial donation to fully equip the uMkhuze Environmental Camp within the uMkhuze section of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, the next step was to facilitate and enable students form the communities to be able to attend weekend educational camps. This is extremely rewarding, as it allows young teenagers to enter the reserve and experience nature and a functioning reserve and wildlife habitat. A first for many! Through the camps enigmatic leader, Simon Nxumalo, they learn how crucial community conservation is. This is essentially the purpose of the camp – to educate learners about conservation and the importance of keeping natural areas wild and intact. For the 2023/2024 year, we managed to do 12 camps, and with this 233 students got to experience the wonders of the natural world. Simon Nxumalo continues  to impress with his passion and drive, and along with the reserve manager, Eduard Goosen, they inspire all! This is with limited resources and support, but through sheer passion and commitment they do a phenomenal job.
